Gasr Nalut is one of the most striking ksour (fortified granaries) in the Nafūsa Mountains. Built by Amazigh communities to safeguard grains, oils, and other essentials, its stacked chambers and narrow alleys reflect the ingenuity of cooperative desert societies.

The fortress also served as a lookout point, defending against raiders while symbolizing communal strength.
